The government of Nigeria has made efforts to reduce the prevalence and social stigma of Obstetric Fistula (OBF). However, many women and girls, particularly in rural areas, still do not receive proper medical treatment. They also face abandonment and ridicule from family and friends. The few trained surgeons are unable to treat all women who have OBF.
