In many countries, girls face explicit and implicit discrimination. They lack access to basic healthcare services. When resources are scarce, they are fed less, leaving them at increased risk of illness and death. They are more vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and trafficking—either for sex or labor. Seen as less valuable than boys or as an economic burden, they are denied the dignity due them as image bearers of God.
