The Supreme Court is expected to announce whether it will hear a case on surrogacy out of California, which will have national and international implications. As Sloan notes, there are currently no national laws, regulations, or policies regarding surrogacy, the practice of which “is creating a generation of children severed from biological and genetic identity and a breeder class of marginalized women. Both are being transformed into commodities for sale on the global marketplace.”
