Trafficking of 4 Would-Be Surrogate Mothers Foiled (Philippine Daily Inquirer, 2017)
Four women who were promised compensation for acting as surrogate mothers for foreign couples were stopped from boarding a plane from Manila to Cambodia, along with their female escort. A report to the Bureau of Immigration stated that this interception proved the existence of international commercial surrogacy as a form of modern human trafficking.
