Early Marriage Figures for Iraq are Startling. Child Advocates Worry it Could Rise Even More (PRI)
In 1997, 15 percent of Iraqi women wed before 18, according to government statistics. By 2016, Iraq’s early marriage figure jumped to 24 percent, including nearly 5 percent who married before age 15. Child advocates fear these numbers will continue to rise.
