Drug to Prevent Excessive Bleeding after Childbirth Could Save Thousands of Lives (Guardian, 2014)
The World Health Organization, in partnership with Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Merck, is initiating a clinical trial in sub-Saharan Africa to test a new drug for post-partum hemorrhage (PPH) that can be stored at room temperature. Bleeding after childbirth is a leading cause of maternal death around the world, and commonly used drugs to treat PPH must be refrigerated.
